For 7 generations, J. Webb Farm has ventured many roads to get where it stands today. We invite you to take a glimpse into the way of life of a farm and it's family, encouraging
imagination and curiosity.



  • 1866               Webb Farm established shortly after Civil War with the purchase of just $12.50 an acre.
  • 1875               Webb School founded just a half a mile west, educating grades 1-8 in one single room.
  • 1936               Expansion of main barn to house 18 dairy cattle.
  • 1938               Running water & in-house wash room installation.
  • 1929-1930's   Survival of the Great Depression.
  • 1941-1945     World War II experience and survival of wide-spread rationing.
  • 1958               Some property sold to Fermi / DTE for railroad and power line placements.
  • 1957's             Transition from 600 laying hens & dairy herd to 1,500 laying hen operation.
  • 1958's             Laying hen operation grown to 5,000 birds.
  • 1972               Addition of 60 sow, farrow-to-finish, operation. Five years later; grown to 90 sows.
  • 1978               Survival of the vast white-out blizzard.
  • 1980's             Laying hen operation cut back to primarily farrowing to market hog production.
  • 1980-1990      Decade of the Sugar Beets.
  • 1988               Survival of the drought.
  • 1989               Hog roasters built from scratch to provide extra farm income during rough times.
  • 1989-2001     Annual elementary schools farm tour.
  • 1990's             Fruit orchard develops to maturity.
  • 1992               Farrow to market hog operation fades to small herd.
  • 2002               J. Webb Farm corn maze & pumpkins opens to the public.
  • 2006               Illitch Group (owners of Tigers & Red Wings) orders pumpkins delivered to Fox Theater, Detroit.
  • 2008               Abundance of pumpkins & fall produce allowed wholesale to local grocery stores.
  • 2009               Seventh generation of Webb Farm begins.
  • 2012               Farm develops website & celebrates 10th anniversary of "J. Webb Farm Corn Maze & Pumpkins"
  • 2013               Webb Farm accepts "Community Star" award from Monroe County Intermediate School District
  • 2017              Recipient of "Feed a Farmer" community promotion.
  • 2020              Pick-your-own pumpkin field introduced.
  • 2020              First annual school pumpkin donation promotion. Donating over 3,000 pumpkins to local classrooms!
  • 2022              Restoration of big red barn (pictured at right) begins ...
While there has been some consistency on the farm, such as selling dozens of eggs and raising livestock for both market and show purposes. Crops such as alfalfa, soybeans, wheat, oats and corn have always been planted and harvested and odd pets have always found there home here on our farm. Involvement in 4-H and the county fair has also had its place within the Webb Family however; some great changes have taken place...
